Freedom Road Rally Dream Vacation

Have you ever sat and thought about driving out on the open road, just you, your favorite vintage car, and maybe a friend or two? Or what about being a road rally driver in the World Grand Prix? No phones, no fax, just you experiencing the freedom of the open road. Well, we have an opportunity for you. Freedom Road Rally is an annual antique car road rally that provides its participants with the vacation experience of a lifetime. The event is a week long and will be running June 25th – July 1st in 2006. Any vehicle pre-1974 is eligible to run in this event. The participants will travel an average of 200 miles each day on some of the prettiest back roads and state routes. Each evening stop will incorporate transportation museums or a private collection. The entry fee for 2006 is only $1700 which will include entrance into the event, hotels, and admission into the museums and all special activities.

The 2006 event will start and end in Michigan and will cover roughly 1,200 miles on some of the most scenic roads in Michigan and Wisconsin. We will be starting from the famous Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI which will include a lap around the race track. Participants will then head east to Detroit to enjoy some of the finest automotive museums in the area. From there they will head north through Michigan stopping at a number of fantastic museums and historic communities along the way. They will be going up into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to experience some exceptional rustic scenery that will not soon be forgotten. From there participants will head south into Wisconsin, then ferry their vehicles from Wisconsin back to Michigan to finish up at the Speedway. The event’s staff is working with a number of museums, private collectors, and car clubs in each of the cities that they stop in. The plan is to include a transportation museum into each evening stop with a private tour. The route stays primarily on back roads and state routes with speeds averaging 50-55mph. This allows participants to see some fantastic sites during the day as well as still have energy to enjoy the evening stops. The overall style of the event will be set up similarly to the vintage European road rallies, where the overall goal is to see some fantastic sites through the day and to enjoy the evening’s festivities. There will be a “Poker Challenge” which will pay out a cash amount each day to add an extra element of fun and competition to the event.

In 2005 Freedom Road Rally Ran Indianapolis Loop traveled through some of the prettiest back roads in Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky. Participants toured 1-3 museums almost every day, had car shows in some absolutely picturesque communities, and made some fantastic friendships along the way.

Scott Dorsey, Event Coordinator said, “This year we are working even harder to provide the perfect car enthusiasts dream vacation. We will see some of America’s beautiful countryside, visit and stay in some exciting and charming cities, and provide a wonderful and exciting time for all participants. So, we invite you to come run with us and have a great time making some wonderful memories.” For more information please contact Freedom Road Rally at (937) 498-0748, FreedomRoadRally@yahoo.com, or P.O Box 460, Sidney, Ohio 45365.
